Fog and mist transform the atmosphere of a photograph, adding mood, softness, and mystery to a scene. By diffusing light, fog removes harsh shadows and strong contrasts, giving everything a smooth, even glow that feels almost dreamlike. It also reduces clarity in the distance, creating natural layers of depth and perspective as objects fade gradually into obscurity. This selective concealment draws the eye to shapes, silhouettes, and textures that might otherwise be overlooked, while also simplifying busy backgrounds. The result is imagery that feels more dramatic, timeless, and emotionally evocative.
